Expect stuttering even if reported frame rates are good. They only support specific versions of DirectX, and it's not perfect. Instead of having Windows just use the GPU resource directly like it can with the CPU, Parallels has to implement a software GPU for Windows, and then try to accomplish Windows graphics API calls using your host resources. It uses the open-source Wine code to accomplish this, but CrossOver provides a nice graphical interface and focuses on officially supporting popular programs. However, the way graphics acceleration is handled is complicated. CodeWeavers’ CrossOver Mac is a paid application that will run Windows programs on Mac. You would run an entire Windows OS on top of macOS using hardware virtualization features, and regular applications will just work. You can also try a virtual machine solution called Parallels. Sometimes the issues are few or basically nil, if you're lucky. There are no guarantees, and you can expect either outright failure or some degree of issues. One such effort is called Crossover made by a company called Codeweavers. There are efforts to scaffold Windows applications to run on macOS. macOS and Windows are different operating systems so you cannot simply change settings and run Windows applications. There's not necessarily any solution for this. Parallels Desktop is by far the best virtualisation solution for macOS if you want to run Windows alongside your Mac apps.
